Master of Education, M.Ed. and/or Post-Master’s Certificate Program

Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership

The Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership offers a combination of face-to-face courses along with hands-on administrative internships to prepare effective school leaders. This 36-credit program fulfills the program requirements for a Post-Master’s Certificate and culminates with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. The master’s degree program consists of 36 semester hours of study and meets the standards of PSEL (Professional Standards for Educational Leaders) and the New Jersey State Department of Education. 

All students who successfully complete the Elementary and Secondary Education M.Ed. programs will receive the following: TCNJ diploma.

Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership

The Post-Master’s Certificate pathway is designed for candidates who have already obtained a master’s degree. It is an intensive graduate program designed to provide educators with the knowledge and skills needed for a leadership position in a school setting. The program consists of 30 credit hours of study and meets the standards of PSEL (Professional Standards for Educational Leaders) and the New Jersey State Department of Education (NJDOE).  

Note: US citizens looking to obtain a CE from the NJDOE MUST upon admissions have had five years of teaching experience in a US public school while holding a standard US teaching certificate. All students (US and Non-US citizens) will be eligible to apply for a Certificate of Qualification (CQ).

All students who successfully complete the Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership will receive the following: TCNJ Certificate, Certificate of Qualification (CQ)- US and Non-US Citizens, and the Certificate of Eligibility (CE) – US Citizens.

(CQ) – The CQ is issued to both U.S. citizens and non-citizens. Although the CQ is not a license from the State of New Jersey (and is not accepted by national or provincial schools), it is recognized by international schools and their accrediting agencies and allows candidates to teach within the international school community outside of the U.S.

(CE) – US Citizens seeking a Certificate of Eligibility (CE) must apply online for a Certificate of Eligibility (CE) directly through the NJ Department of Education pending they meet the requirements of the current Administrative Code at the point of application.
