Online Graduate Courses Available Through PLS Classes

TCNJ has partnered with PLS Classes to offer innovative, online graduate courses to meet the academic and professional needs of students who want the benefits of an online learning experience. These courses for educators offer affordable, convenient opportunities for career advancement. At present, students are required to complete one of the following online courses as part of their graduate certificate program.

Courses are available in the fall and spring semesters.
Each course is 3 credit hours.

Foundations of Literacy: Beginning Reading (VCPD 530)

Explore the components of early reading instruction defined by the National Reading Panel and the International Reading Association. Build a knowledge base for each component, apply that knowledge within a classroom setting, and construct a portfolio of teaching strategies for each component.

Reading Across the Curriculum (VCPD 540)

Explore reading strategies designed to enhance comprehension in your content area. Apply best practices related to types of text, reading assessments, fluency, motivation, vocabulary, and note taking. Develop reading plans, lessons, and rubrics.

Secondary Content Methods (VCPD 590)

By examining the core curriculum content standards in New Jersey secondary schools, you will make connections between the higher-level courses you have taken in college and the material taught in those schools. Study methods that enable you to meet the needs of all of the learners in diverse classrooms, and complete assignments and requirements that explore methods and approaches specific to your discipline.

Learn more about course content and schedules on the PLS website. Please filter for TCNJ offerings to ensure credit will be awarded properly.
