Graduation Information

Students Preparing to Graduate From an OSGP Graduate Program

Students Apply for Graduation (Deadlines and Steps) *ALL STUDENTS MUST READ:

1. Spring, Summer, and Fall candidates MUST submit a graduation application in February of that year.
2. Winter candidates MUST submit a graduation application in December.
3. Only matriculated students are eligible to apply for graduation.

Students who do not adhere to the graduation application deadline risk having their TCNJ documents (diplomas and certificates) delayed.

Please note timely disbursement of official documents (Diploma – M.Ed./MA and Certificate of Qualification (CQ) rests with students doing the following:

1. complete all required coursework
2. Reconcile of financial account in PAWS
3. Apply for graduation in PAWS (M.Ed./MA candidates incur a $100 application fee and the Certificate candidates fee is waived).
4. Confirm/update the mailing address in PAWS to reflect the preferred mailing address for your documents. Failure to do so may result in the Office of Records & Registration automatically shipping graduation documents to an incorrect address.

Letter of Program Completion Request:

Off-Site Graduate Programs will send an electronic letter of completion once your degree has been posted. If students need a TCNJ letter of completion, please email osgp@tcnj.edu with your request.

 

Standard Certificate US Citizens – Counseling Students ONLY: 

Upon program completion, Counseling candidates who are US citizens may apply for certification through the NJDOE. For questions concerning certification, please either consult your academic advisor.

Students Completing an NJ-Domestic Program (ESL and Ed. Leadership): 

Students completing an NJ Domestic OSGP Certificate Program (ESL initial certification, Bilingual Endorsement (initial or standard), or EdL Supervisor Certification may be eligible to apply for their certification with TCNJ’s Certification Office. (To ensure you complete the correct application, please consult your academic advisor before completing/submitting it.)

Certificate Candidates Planning to Continue their Studies (M.Ed. program):

Students MUST reapply with the Office of Graduate Studies by submitting another graduate application. Please complete an online global graduate application with The Office of Graduate Studies. The application fee of $75.00 is waived for former TCNJ students who have completed a graduate program, and no other supplementary materials are needed.

Ordering Official TCNJ Transcripts:

Students wishing to receive official TCNJ transcripts may order them through the Office of Records and Registration.

Graduation Documents – Mailing Information: 

OSGP works with TCNJ’S Office of Records and Registration in coordinating the procurement and disbursement of graduation document mailings for OSGP students.

  1. Bundled graduation document Request: OSGP graduates who live in certain parts of the world where the US Postal Service (USPS) cannot easily provide a service are eligible to receive a one-time express shipment of graduation documents. Per each student’s request, OSGP will bundle together all pertinent documents for a one-time mailing. Students wishing to have their graduation documents bundled together (i.e., diploma, CQ, and/or official transcripts) and either mailed by USPS or expressed mailed, please email your request to OSGP at osgp@tcnj.edu.
  2. Non-bundled graduation document request/US Postal Service: Students who live (or retain a mailing address) in the US and who live in some areas of the world where the US Postal Service (USPS) can easily access will receive their graduation document(s) via USPS, please verify that your address is correct in PAWS.

Documents may include the following:

  1. TCNJ Diploma (M.Ed. candidates/MA candidates) Students apply for graduation through PAWS. All diplomas are processed by TCNJ’s Office of Records & Registration.
  2. TCNJ Official Transcripts (M.Ed. and Certificate candidates) Students order official transcripts through PAWS. Transcripts are processed and mailed (US Mail only) by TCNJ’s Office of Records & Registration. ***If you would like for your transcript to be sent to OSGP to be shipped with your other graduation documents, please indicate OSGP’s address when submitting your transcript order form: OSGP, The Office of Graduate Studies and Continuing Studies, Green Hall, 201.
  3. Certification of Qualification (CQ) (Certificate candidates) Students must apply for graduation through PAWS to be eligible to receive a CQ.

Please note that the timely disbursement of official documents rests with students doing the following:

Student Request for Notarized Document(s):

Students looking for their graduation documents (diploma, official transcripts, and/or CQ) to be notarized, please email OSGP at osgp@tcnj.edu with your request and include the following information: name, PAWS ID, the program completed/date of graduation, address (if applicable) where you would like your documents mailed. *Students may incur the S&H costs depending on location.
